1 Em Iconium, eles entraram juntos na sinagoga dos judeus, e assim falou uma grande multidão, tanto de judeus quanto de gregos, acreditavam.
2 Mas os judeus incrédulos agitaram e amargaram as almas dos gentios contra os irmãos.
3 Por isso permaneceram ali por muito tempo, falando corajosamente no Senhor, que testemunhou a palavra de sua graça, concedendo sinais e maravilhas a serem feitas por suas mãos.
4 Mas a multidão da cidade estava dividida. Parte ao lado dos judeus e parte ao lado dos apóstolos.
5 Quando alguns dos gentios e judeus, com seus governantes, fizeram uma violenta tentativa de maltratá-los e apedrejá-los,
6 tomaram consciência disso e fugiram para as cidades de Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe e a região circundante.
7 Lá eles pregaram a Boa Nova.
8 Em Lystra, um certo homem sentou-se, impotente em seus pés, um aleijado do ventre de sua mãe, que nunca havia caminhado.
9 Ele estava ouvindo Paulo falar, que, fixando os olhos nele e vendo que ele tinha fé para ser curado,
10 disse com uma voz alta: “Fique de pé! Ele saltou e caminhou.
11 Quando a multidão viu o que Paulo tinha feito, levantou sua voz, dizendo na língua de Lycaonia: “Os deuses desceram até nós à semelhança dos homens”!
12 Chamaram Barnabé de “Júpiter”, e Paulo de “Mercúrio”, porque ele era o principal orador.
13 O sacerdote de Júpiter, cujo templo estava na frente de sua cidade, trouxe bois e grinaldas para os portões, e teria feito um sacrifício junto com as multidões.
14 Mas quando os apóstolos, Barnabé e Paulo, ouviram falar disso, rasgaram suas roupas e saltaram para a multidão, gritando,
15 “Homens, por que vocês estão fazendo essas coisas? Nós também somos homens da mesma natureza que vocês, e lhes trazemos boas novas, para que se voltem dessas coisas vãs para o Deus vivo, que fez o céu, a terra, o mar e tudo o que há neles;
16 que, nas gerações passadas, permitiu que todas as nações caminhassem em seus próprios caminhos.
17 No entanto, ele não se deixou a si mesmo sem testemunhar, na medida em que fez o bem e vos deu chuvas do céu e estações frutíferas, enchendo nossos corações de alimento e alegria”.
18 Mesmo dizendo estas coisas, eles dificilmente impediram que as multidões fizessem um sacrifício a eles.
19 Mas alguns judeus de Antioquia e Icônio chegaram lá, e tendo persuadido as multidões, apedrejaram Paulo e o arrastaram para fora da cidade, supondo que ele estivesse morto.
20 Mas enquanto os discípulos estavam ao seu redor, ele se levantou e entrou na cidade. No dia seguinte, ele saiu com Barnabé para Derbe.
21 Quando pregaram a Boa Nova àquela cidade e fizeram muitos discípulos, retornaram a Listra, Icônio e Antioquia,
22 fortalecendo as almas dos discípulos, exortando-os a continuar na fé, e que através de muitas aflições devemos entrar no Reino de Deus.
23 Quando eles tinham nomeado anciãos para eles em cada assembléia, e tinham orado com jejum, eles os recomendaram ao Senhor em quem eles tinham acreditado.
24 Eles passaram por Pisidia e vieram para Pamphylia.
25 Quando falaram a palavra em Perga, desceram para Attalia.
26 De lá navegaram para Antioquia, de onde haviam se comprometido com a graça de Deus para a obra que haviam realizado.
27 Quando chegaram e reuniram a assembléia, relataram todas as coisas que Deus havia feito com eles, e que ele havia aberto uma porta de fé para as nações.
28 Eles permaneceram ali com os discípulos por muito tempo.
