2 Agradecemos sempre a Deus por todos vocês, mencionando-os em nossas orações,
3 recordando sem cessar seu trabalho de fé e trabalho de amor e perseverança de esperança em nosso Senhor Jesus Cristo, diante de nosso Deus e Pai.
4 Sabemos, irmãos amados por Deus, que vocês foram escolhidos,
5 e que nossa Boa Nova chegou até vocês não somente em palavras, mas também em poder, e no Espírito Santo e com muita segurança. Vós sabeis que tipo de homens nós mostramos estar entre vós por vossa causa.
6 Vocês se tornaram imitadores de nós e do Senhor, tendo recebido a palavra em muita aflição, com alegria do Espírito Santo,
7 de modo que vocês se tornaram um exemplo para todos os que acreditam na Macedônia e na Acaia.
8 Pois de vocês foi declarada a palavra do Senhor, não somente na Macedônia e na Acaia, mas também em todos os lugares em que sua fé para com Deus se manifestou, de modo que não precisamos dizer nada.
9 Pois eles mesmos relatam sobre nós que tipo de recepção tivemos de vocês, e como vocês se voltaram de ídolos para Deus para servir a um Deus vivo e verdadeiro,
