1 ਜੇਕਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਹੀ ਘਰ ਨਾ ਬਣਾਵੇ, ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੀ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ। ਜੇਕਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਹੀ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਨਾ ਕਰੇ, ਤਾਂ ਰਾਖੇ ਦਾ ਜਾਗਣਾ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ।
2 ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਸਵੇਰ ਦਾ ਉੱਠਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਦੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਬੈਠੇ ਰਹਿਣਾ, ਅਤੇ ਦੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਣੀ ਵਿਅਰਥ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਨੀਂਦ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੀ ਦੇ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
3 ਵੇਖੋ, ਬੱਚੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮਿਰਾਸ ਹਨ, ਗਰਭ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਇੱਕ ਅਸੀਸ ਹੈ,
4 ਜਿਵੇਂ ਸੂਰਮੇ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੀਰ, ਤਿਵੇਂ ਜਵਾਨੀ ਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹਨ,
5 ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਤਰਕਸ਼ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ! ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੈਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਫਾਟਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦੇ ਨਾ ਹੋਣਗੇ!
