1 ਮੂਰਖ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਖਿਆ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੈ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ, ਉਹ ਵਿਗੜ ਗਏ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਘਿਣਾਉਣੇ ਕੰਮ ਕੀਤੇ ਹਨ, ਭਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ।
2 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਸਵਰਗ ਤੋਂ ਆਦਮ ਵੰਸ਼ ਉੱਤੇ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀ ਕੀਤੀ, ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਵੇਖੇ ਕਿ ਕੋਈ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਖੋਜ਼ੀ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ?
3 ਉਹ ਸੱਭੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਗਏ, ਉਹ ਸਭ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਭਰਿਸ਼ਟ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ। ਕੋਈ ਭਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਨਹੀਂ, ਇੱਕ ਵੀ ਨਹੀਂ!
4 ਕੀ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਕੁਕਰਮੀ ਸਮਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੱਖਦੇ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਰੋਟੀ ਖਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਨਹੀਂ ਲੈਂਦੇ?
5 ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਵੱਡਾ ਭੈਅ ਖਾਧਾ, ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਧਰਮੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
6 ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਦੀ ਜੁਗਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਾੜਾ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹੋ, ਪਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਪਨਾਹ ਹੈ।
7 ਕਾਸ਼ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦਾ ਬਚਾਓ ਸੀਯੋਨ ਤੋਂ ਨਿੱਕਲੇ! ਜਦ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਰਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਗ਼ੁਲਾਮੀ ਤੋਂ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆਵੇਗਾ, ਤਦ ਯਾਕੂਬ ਬਾਗ-ਬਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ!
