第 10 章：信仰带来的祝福
如果你们也想拥有这种信仰，你们也必须先认识天父。因为上帝爱人类，他为人类的缘故创造了世界，使世界万物臣服于他，赐给人类理性和认识，唯独赐给人类仰望自己的特权，按照自己的形象塑造了人类，差遣了自己的独生子，应许给人类天上的国度，并要赐给爱他的人。当你认识到这一点时，你认为你会充满怎样的喜乐？或者说，你将如何爱那首先如此爱你的主呢？如果你爱他，你就会效法他的仁慈。不要对一个人可以成为上帝的模仿者感到惊讶。只要他愿意，他就可以。因为幸福不是靠统治邻居，不是靠对弱者高高在上，也不是靠富裕而对卑微者施暴；任何人也不能靠这些东西成为上帝的模仿者。这些根本不构成上帝的威严。恰恰相反，把邻居的重担揽在自己身上的人；无论自己在哪一方面比别人优越，都愿意帮助别人的人，无论他从上帝那里得到了什么，他都会把这些东西分给需要的人，成为那些接受他恩惠的人的神，他就是上帝的模仿者。到那时，你们还在世上，就会看到天上的上帝统治着宇宙；到那时，你们就会开始谈论上帝的奥秘；到那时，你们就会爱戴和钦佩那些因为不否认上帝而遭受惩罚的人；当你们知道什么是真正的天堂生活时，你们就会谴责世人的欺骗和谬误；当你们蔑视在这里被视为死亡的东西时，你们就会惧怕真正的死亡，因为死亡是为那些将被判处永恒之火的人准备的，那些被永恒之火折磨至死的人。到那时，你们会钦佩那些为了正义而忍受短暂之火的人，当你们知道那火的性质时，你们会认为他们是幸福的。
