第 8 章："道 "降临之前人类的悲惨处境。
在上帝降临之前，人们中有谁明白上帝是什么？你们接受那些被认为值得信赖的哲学家的虚妄和愚蠢的学说吗？他们中的一些人声称火是上帝，称他们自己最终会遇到的上帝为火；一些人说水是上帝；还有一些人说出了上帝创造的其他元素。但是，如果这些理论中的任何一种都值得肯定，那么其他所有被造物也都可以被宣布为神。这些说法只是骗子们惊人而错误的陈述，没有人见过他，也没有人让人认识他，但他已经显明了自己。祂通过信仰显明了自己，只有信仰才能看见上帝。上帝是万物的主宰和创造者，他创造了万物，并为它们分配了各自的位置，他不仅是人类的朋友，而且在与人类打交道时也很有耐心。事实上，他一直都是这样，现在仍然是，将来也永远是仁慈和善良的，没有愤怒，是真实的，是唯一绝对善良的人；他在心中构想了一个伟大而难以形容的计划，只传达给了他的儿子。只要祂将祂的睿智谋划秘而不宣，祂似乎就会忽视我们，对我们不闻不问。但是，当祂通过祂的爱子揭示并让我们知道从一开始就准备好的事情之后，祂就把所有的祝福都赐给了我们，使我们既能分享祂的益处，又能看到并积极地为祂服务。我们当中有谁会预料到这些事情呢？祂与祂的儿子，按照他们之间的关系，在自己的心中知道一切。
