第 6 章：基督徒与世界的关系。
用一个词概括一切--灵魂在身体里，基督徒在世界上。灵魂遍布身体的所有肢体，基督徒散布于世界的所有城市。灵魂住在身体里，却不属于身体；基督徒生活在世界上，却不属于世界。无形的灵魂被有形的肉体保护着，基督徒在世界上是众所周知的，但他们的虔诚仍然是无形的。肉体憎恨灵魂并与之争战，尽管它没有受到伤害，因为它无法享受快乐；世界也憎恨基督徒，尽管它没有受到伤害，因为他们拒绝快乐。灵魂爱恨它的肉体，爱它的肢体；基督徒也同样爱恨他们的人。灵魂被囚禁在肉体里，但却保护着肉体；基督徒被囚禁在世上，就像被囚禁在监狱里，但他们却是世界的保护者。不朽的灵魂住在必朽的身体里；基督徒就像旅行者一样住在必朽的身体里，期待着在天上有一个不朽的居所。同样，基督徒虽然日复一日地遭受惩罚，但他们的人数却在增加。上帝给了他们这个显赫的地位，他们离开这个地位是不合法的。
