About John 1
John's Gospel opens before creation: in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God — and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. John the Baptist points to Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, and the first disciples — Andrew, Peter, Philip, Nathanael — begin to follow the One Nathanael calls the Son of God, the King of Israel.
