1 Não repreenda um homem mais velho, mas exorte-o como pai; os homens mais jovens como irmãos;
2 as mulheres mais velhas como mães; as mais jovens como irmãs, com toda a pureza.
3 Honrar as viúvas que realmente são viúvas.
4 Mas se alguma viúva tiver filhos ou netos, que aprendam primeiro a demonstrar piedade para com sua própria família e a retribuir aos pais, pois isto é aceitável aos olhos de Deus.
5 Agora ela que é viúva de fato e desolada, tem sua esperança posta em Deus e continua em petições e orações noite e dia.
6 Mas ela que se dá ao prazer está morta enquanto vive.
7 Também ordena estas coisas, para que elas possam ser sem repreensão.
8 Mas se alguém não provê os seus, e especialmente sua própria casa, tem negado a fé e é pior do que um descrente.
9 Que ninguém seja inscrito como viúva com menos de sessenta anos, tendo sido esposa de um homem,
10 being aprovado por boas obras, se criou filhos, se foi hospitaleira com estranhos, se lavou os pés dos santos, se aliviou os aflitos, e se acompanhou diligentemente cada bom trabalho.
11 Mas recusar as viúvas mais jovens, pois quando elas se tornaram levianas contra Cristo, elas desejam se casar,
12 tendo condenação, porque rejeitaram sua primeira promessa.
13 Além disso, elas também aprendem a ser ociosas, andando de casa em casa. Não só ociosos, mas também fofoqueiros e intrometidos, dizendo coisas que não deveriam.
14 Portanto, desejo que as viúvas mais jovens se casem, tenham filhos, governem a casa e não dêem ocasião ao adversário de insultar.
15 Pois alguns já se afastaram depois de Satanás.
16 Se algum homem ou mulher que acredita ter viúvas, que as alivie, e não deixe que a assembléia seja sobrecarregada, que ela possa aliviar aquelas que são viúvas de fato.
17 Let os anciãos que governam bem são considerados dignos de dupla honra, especialmente aqueles que trabalham na palavra e no ensino.
18 Pois a Escritura diz: “Não açaimeis o boi quando ele pisar o grão”. E, “O trabalhador é digno de seu salário”.
19 Não receber uma acusação contra um ancião, exceto com a palavra de duas ou três testemunhas.
20 Aqueles que pecam, reprovam à vista de todos, que o resto também pode estar com medo.
21 Eu vos ordeno aos olhos de Deus, do Senhor Jesus Cristo e dos anjos escolhidos, que observem estas coisas sem preconceitos, nada fazendo por parcialidade.
22 Não ponha as mãos apressadamente sobre ninguém. Não seja um participante dos pecados alheios. Mantenha-se puro.
23 Não seja mais um bebedor de água apenas, mas use um pouco de vinho para o seu estômago e suas freqüentes enfermidades.
24 Alguns pecados dos homens são evidentes, precedendo-os ao julgamento, e alguns também se seguem mais tarde.
25 Da mesma forma também há boas obras que são óbvias, e aquelas que de outra forma não podem ser escondidas.
