1 ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਲਈ ਰਥ ਅਤੇ ਘੋੜੇ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਦੌੜਨ ਲਈ ਪੰਜਾਹ ਅੰਗ ਰੱਖਿਅਕ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤੇ।
2 ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਸਵੇਰੇ ਉੱਠਦੇ ਸਾਰ ਹੀ ਫਾਟਕ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਕੋਲ ਖੜ੍ਹਾ ਜੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਰਿਆਦੀ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਕਾਰ ਕੇ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਸੀ, ਤੂੰ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਦਾ ਹੈ? ਜੇਕਰ ਉਹ ਆਖਦਾ, ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਫਲਾਣੇ ਗੋਤ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਹੈ।
3 ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਵੇਖ, ਤੇਰੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਠੀਕ ਅਤੇ ਸੱਚੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੀ ਸੁਣੇ।
4 ਫਿਰ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ, ਜੇਕਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਨਿਆਈਂ ਨਿਯੁਕਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਕੋਈ ਫ਼ਰਿਆਦੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਨਿਆਂ ਕਰਦਾ!
5 ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਕੋਈ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਣ ਲਈ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ ਫੈਲਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਗਲੇ ਲਾ ਕੇ ਚੁੰਮ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਸੀ।
6 ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨਾਲ ਜੋ ਰਾਜਾ ਕੋਲ ਫ਼ਰਿਆਦ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਜਿੱਤ ਲਏ।
7 ਚਾਰ ਸਾਲ ਬਾਅਦ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਜ਼ਾਜਤ ਦਿਓ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਂਵਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਜੋ ਸੁੱਖਣਾ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਸੁੱਖੀ ਹੈ, ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਕਰਾਂ।
8 ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਦਾਸ ਜਦ ਅਰਾਮ ਦੇ ਗਸ਼ੂਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਸੁੱਖਣਾ ਸੁੱਖੀ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਜੇਕਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੱਚ-ਮੁੱਚ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਉਪਾਸਨਾ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।
9 ਤਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਸੁੱਖ ਨਾਲ ਜਾ, ਤਦ ਉਹ ਉੱਠਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਨੂੰ ਤੁਰ ਪਿਆ।
10 ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਗੋਤਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਤੀ ਇਸ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਅਖਵਾ ਕੇ ਭੇਜੇ ਕਿ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਤੁਰ੍ਹੀ ਦੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਸੁਣੋ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਖਣਾ, ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਹਬਰੋਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜਾ ਹੈ!
11 ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਤੋਂ ਦੋ ਸੌ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੁਰੇ, ਜੋ ਸੱਦੇ ਗਏ ਸਨ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਹਿਜ ਸੁਭਾਅ ਤੁਰੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਕਿਸੇ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ।
12 ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਗੀਲੋਨੀ ਅਹੀਥੋਫ਼ਲ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਗਿਲੋਹ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਹ ਬਲੀ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਸੱਦ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਭਾ ਵੱਧਦੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਲੋਕ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨਾਲ ਜੁੜਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ।
13 ਤਦ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਿਆ ਕਿ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਦੇ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਦੇ ਮਨ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਲੱਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ।
14 ਸੋ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਨ ਆਖਿਆ, ਉੱਠੋ, ਅਸੀਂ ਭੱਜ ਚੱਲੀਏ, ਨਹੀਂ ਤਾਂ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਅਸੀਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਬਚਾਂਗੇ! ਛੇਤੀ ਤੁਰੋ, ਅਜਿਹਾ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਆ ਕੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਫੜ ਲਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਲਿਆਵੇ ਅਤੇ ਤਲਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਧਾਰ ਨਾਲ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਨਾਸ ਕਰੇ!
15 ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਰਾਜਾ ਆਖੇ ਉਹੋ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਰ ਹਨ।
16 ਤਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਿੱਕਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਟੱਬਰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਦਸ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜੋ ਰਖ਼ੈਲਾਂ ਸਨ, ਪਿੱਛੇ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਓਹ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਕਰਨ।
17 ਤਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਿੱਕਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ-ਪਿੱਛੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਬੈਤ ਮਰਹਾਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾ ਠਹਿਰੇ,
18 ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਕਰੇਤੀ, ਫਲੇਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਛੇ ਸੌ ਗਿੱਤੀ ਜੁਆਨ ਜੋ ਗਥ ਤੋਂ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਆਏ ਸਨ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ-ਅੱਗੇ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ।
19 ਤਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਗਿੱਤੀ ਇੱਤਈ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਿਉਂ ਆਇਆ ਹੈ? ਤੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨਾਲ ਰਹਿ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਦੇਸੀ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਵੀ ਹੈਂ
20 ਆਪਣੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਜਾ! ਕੱਲ ਹੀ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਆਇਆ ਹੈਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਲਾ, ਅੱਜ ਹੀ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਧਰ-ਉੱਧਰ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਫਿਰਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਜਗ੍ਹਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਮੈਂ ਜਾਂਵਾਂ? ਸੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੁੜ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਲੈ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਦਯਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੋਵੇ।
21 ਤਦ ਇੱਤਈ ਨੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੂੰ ਉੱਤਰ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜੀਉਂਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮਹਾਰਾਜ ਰਾਜਾ ਦੀ ਜਿੰਦ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਕਿਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਰਾਜਾ ਜਾਵੇ, ਭਾਵੇਂ ਮਰਿਆ ਹੋਵੇ ਭਾਵੇਂ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਉੱਥੇ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਦਾਸ ਵੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
22 ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਇੱਤਈ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਚੱਲ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ, ਅਤੇ ਇੱਤਈ ਗਿੱਤੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ, ਸਭ ਬੱਚੇ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਨ, ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਗਏ।
23 ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭੁੱਬਾਂ ਮਾਰ-ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਰੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਪਾਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜਾ ਆਪ ਵੀ ਕਿਦਰੋਨ ਨਦੀ ਦੇ ਪਾਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਭ ਲੋਕ ਪਾਰ ਲੰਘ ਕੇ ਉਜਾੜ ਦੇ ਰਾਹ ਚੱਲ ਪਏ।
24 ਵੇਖੋ, ਸਾਦੋਕ ਵੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੇਵੀ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਚੁੱਕੇ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਨ, ਸੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਨੇਮ ਦੇ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਨੂੰ ਰੱਖ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਯਾਥਾਰ ਨੇ ਭੇਂਟ ਚੜਾਈ ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਨਾ ਆ ਗਏ।
25 ਤਦ ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਸਾਦੋਕ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਮੋੜ ਲੈ ਜਾਓ। ਜੇਕਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਹੋਈ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਥਾਨ ਦੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਣ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਕਰਾਵੇਗਾ।
26 ਪਰ ਜੇ ਉਹ ਆਖੇ ਕਿ ਮੈਂ ਹੁਣ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਹਾਂ! ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੰਗਾ ਹੈ, ਸੋ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਰੇ।
27 ਰਾਜੇ ਨੇ ਸਾਦੋਕ ਜਾਜਕ ਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਭਲਾ, ਤੂੰ ਦਰਸ਼ੀ ਨਹੀਂ? ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਨੂੰ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਮੁੜ ਜਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਦੋਵੇਂ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਅਹੀਮਅਸ ਜੋ ਤੇਰਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਯੋਨਾਥਾਨ ਜੋ ਅਬਯਾਥਾਰ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਹੈ, ਮੁੜ ਜਾਣ।
28 ਵੇਖ, ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਜੰਗਲ ਦੇ ਘਾਟ ਕੋਲ ਠਹਿਰਾਂਗਾ, ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੋਈ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਨਾ ਆਵੇ
29 ਸੋ ਸਾਦੋਕ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਯਾਥਾਰ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦਾ ਸੰਦੂਕ ਯਰੂਸ਼ਲਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੋੜ ਲਿਆਏ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਹੀ ਰਹੇ।
30 ਦਾਊਦ ਜ਼ੈਤੂਨ ਦੇ ਪਰਬਤ ਨੂੰ ਚੜ੍ਹ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਦਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋਂਦਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਉਸਦਾ ਸਿਰ ਢੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਪੈਰੋਂ ਨੰਗਾ ਸੀ। ਉਸ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਢੱਕ ਲਏ ਅਤੇ ਚੜ੍ਹਦੇ ਹੋਏ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੋਂਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਸਨ।
31 ਕਿਸੇ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਿਆ, ਅਹੀਥੋਫ਼ਲ ਵੀ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੈ, ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਅਹੀਥੋਫ਼ਲ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਬਦਲ ਦੇ।
32 ਫਿਰ ਜਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਉਸ ਪਰਬਤ ਦੀ ਟੀਸੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਹੁੰਚਿਆ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ ਸੀ ਤਾਂ ਵੇਖੋ ਹੂਸ਼ਈ ਅਰਕੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾੜੇ ਹੋਏ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਉੱਤੇ ਮਿੱਟੀ ਪਾਏ ਹੋਏ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਲਈ ਆਇਆ।
33 ਤਦ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਚੱਲੇਂਗਾ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਬੋਝ ਹੋਵੇਂਗਾ,
34 ਪਰ ਜੇਕਰ ਤੂੰ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੁੜ ਜਾਵੇਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਬਸ਼ਾਲੋਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਖੇ, ਹੇ ਰਾਜਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਹਾਂ। ਜਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਦਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਸੀ, ਉਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੁਣ ਤੁਹਾਡਾ ਸੇਵਕ ਹਾਂ, ਤਦ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਅਹੀਥੋਫ਼ਲ ਦੀ ਸਲਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸਫਲ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
