1 ਤਦ ਅਬਿਯਾਹ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੱਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, ਤਦ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਆਸਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਰਾਜ ਕਰਨ ਲੱਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਦਿਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਸ ਵਰ੍ਹੇ ਤੱਕ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਮਨ ਰਿਹਾ।
2 ਆਸਾ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਠੀਕ ਸੀ
3 ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਓਪਰੇ ਦੇਵਤਿਆਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਜਗਵੇਦੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਚੇ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਢਾਹ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਥੰਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭੰਨ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਟੁੰਡਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਢ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ
4 ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਕਮ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਭਾਲਣਾ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਕਮਨਾਮੇ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨਣ
5 ਉਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਉੱਚੇ ਸਥਾਨਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸੂਰਜ ਦੀਆਂ ਮੂਰਤੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੂਰ ਕਰ ਛੱਡਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੈਨ ਰਿਹਾ।
6 ਉਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੜਾਂ ਵਾਲੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਬਣਵਾਏ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਚੈਨ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਸਾਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਲੜਾਈ ਨਾ ਲੜਨੀ ਪਈ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਅਰਾਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ਿਆ ਸੀ
7 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਇਹ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਬਣਾਈਏ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਕੰਧਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੁਰਜ ਬਣਾਈਏ ਅਤੇ ਫਾਟਕ ਦੇ ਅਰਲ ਲਾਈਏ ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਦੇਸ ਸਾਡੇ ਕਬਜ਼ੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਿਆ। ਅਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਚੁਫ਼ੇਰਿਓਂ ਅਰਾਮ ਬਖਸ਼ਿਆ ਹੈ। ਸੋ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਫ਼ਲ ਹੋਏ।
8 ਆਸਾ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੀ ਤਿੰਨ ਲੱਖ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਸੀ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਢਾਲ਼ ਅਤੇ ਬਰਛੀ ਚੁੱਕਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਬਿਨਯਾਮੀਨ ਦੇ ਦੋ ਲੱਖ ਅੱਸੀ ਹਜ਼ਾਰ ਸਨ ਜੋ ਢਾਲ਼ ਚੁੱਕਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਤੀਰ ਚਲਾਉਂਦੇ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਰਬੀਰ ਯੋਧੇ ਸਨ।
9 ਜ਼ਰਹ ਕੂਸ਼ੀ ਦਸ ਲੱਖ ਦੀ ਫ਼ੌਜ ਅਤੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਸੌ ਰਥ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਨਿੱਕਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰੇਸ਼ਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਇਆ
10 ਅਤੇ ਆਸਾ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਲਈ ਵਧਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਮਾਰੇਸ਼ਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਫਾਥਾਹ ਦੀ ਵਾਦੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੜਾਈ ਲਈ ਪਾਲਾਂ ਬੰਨ੍ਹੀਆਂ
11 ਆਸਾ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਜ਼ੋਰ ਅਤੇ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰਨ ਨੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਬਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਹੈ ਨਹੀਂ। ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਤੂੰ ਸਾਡੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਕਰ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਮ ਉੱਤੇ ਇਸ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਏ ਹਾਂ। ਤੂੰ, ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਸਾਡਾ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਹੈਂ। ਮਨੁੱਖ ਤੇਰੇ ਟਾਕਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਜਿੱਤੇ!
12 ਫੇਰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਆਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਦੇ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਕੂਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਕੂਸ਼ੀ ਭੱਜ ਗਏ।
13 ਆਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਗਰਾਰ ਤੱਕ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪਿੱਛਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੂਸ਼ੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਐਨੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਗਏ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਫੇਰ ਸੰਭਲ ਨਾ ਸਕੇ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਦਲ ਦੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਮਾਰੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਯਹੂਦਾਹ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰਾ ਲੁੱਟ ਦਾ ਮਾਲ ਚੁੱਕ ਲਿਆਇਆ
14 ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਗਰਾਰ ਦੇ ਆਸ-ਪਾਸ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਪੈ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਇਸ ਲਈ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲੁੱਟਿਆ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੁੱਟਣ ਲਈ ਮਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਸੀ
