1 ਉਨੀਂ ਦਿਨੀਂ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਹੋਇਆ ਜੋ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਨ ਲਈ ਆਪਣੇ ਦਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ। ਤਦ ਆਕੀਸ਼ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਸੱਚ ਜਾਣ ਜੋ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਣਾ ਪਵੇਗਾ
2 ਸੋ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੇ ਆਕੀਸ਼ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੈਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਮਲੂਮ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ ਜੋ ਤੇਰੇ ਸੇਵਕ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਕਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੁ ਕੰਮ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਆਕੀਸ਼ ਨੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤਾਂ ਸਦਾ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਖ਼ਾ ਬਣਾਵਾਂਗਾ।
3 ਸਮੂਏਲ ਮਰ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਅਫ਼ਸੋਸ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸੇ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਰਾਮਾਹ ਸੀ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਦੱਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੂਤ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਓਯਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਸੀ।
4 ਸੋ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਸ਼ੂਨੇਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਆ ਡੇਰੇ ਲਾਏ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਵੀ ਸਾਰੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਇਕੱਠਿਆਂ ਕੀਤਾ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਗਿਲਬੋਆ ਵਿੱਚ ਡੇਰੇ ਲਾਏ।
5 ਜਦ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਦਲ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਡਾਢਾ ਕੰਬਿਆ
6 ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਸਲਾਹ ਪੁੱਛੀ ਤਾਂ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਸੁਫਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾ ਊਰੀਮ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਕੁਝ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
7 ਤਦ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਭਾਲੋ ਜਿਸ ਦੇ ਭੂਤ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਹੋਣ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਉਸ ਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾਂਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਪੁੱਛਾਂ। ਸੋ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਏਨ-ਦੋਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਭੂਤ ਮਿੱਤਰਾਂ ਹੈ।
8 ਸੋ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਭੇਸ ਬਦਲ ਕੇ ਹੋਰ ਕੱਪੜੇ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਦੋ ਜਣੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਕੋਲ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਦਯਾ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਭੂਤ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਕੋਲੋਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਸਲਾਹ ਪੁੱਛ ਅਤੇ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸਾਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਬੁਲਾ ਲਿਆ।
9 ਤਦ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖ, ਤੂੰ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਜੋ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਕੀ ਕੀਤਾ, ਕਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੂਤ ਮਿੱਤਰ ਸਨ ਅਤੇ ਦਿਓਯਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦੇਸ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਮੁਕਾ ਸੁੱਟਿਆ। ਫੇਰ ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਕਾਹਨੂੰ ਫਸਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮਰਵਾ ਸੁੱਟੇ?
10 ਤਦ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ ਚੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਭਈ ਜਿਉਂਦੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਸਹੁੰ, ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦੀ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲੇਗੀ।
11 ਤਦ ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਬੋਲੀ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਕਿਸਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਾਵਾਂ? ਉਹ ਬੋਲਿਆ, ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਲਵਾ।
12 ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਤਾਂ ਉੱਚੀ ਅਵਾਜ਼ ਨਾਲ ਚਿੱਲਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਧੋਖਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਕੀਤਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਤਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੀ ਹੋ!
13 ਤਦ ਰਾਜਾ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਘਬਰਾ ਨਾ। ਤੂੰ ਕੀ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਹੈ? ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਇੱਕ ਦੇਵਤੇ ਨੂੰ ਧਰਤੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਨਿੱਕਲਦੇ ਵੇਖਦੀ ਹਾਂ।
14 ਤਦ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਰੰਗ ਰੂਪ ਬਾਰੇ ਦੱਸ! ਉਹ ਬੋਲੀ, ਇੱਕ ਬੁੱਢਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਉੱਪਰ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਚੱਦਰ ਨਾਲ ਢੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ। ਤਦ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੇ ਜਾਣਿਆ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਹੀ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੇ ਭਾਰ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਡਿੱਗ ਕੇ ਮੱਥਾ ਟੇਕਿਆ।
15 ਤਦ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਸੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਾਹਨੂੰ ਭੰਗ ਪਾਇਆ ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਿਆ? ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਬੋਲਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਬਹੁਤ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਲੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਤਿਆਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕੁਝ ਉੱਤਰ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਨਾ ਨਬੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਸੁਫ਼ਨਿਆਂ ਦੇ। ਇਸ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਸੱਦਿਆ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਦੱਸੇ ਭਈ ਮੈਂ ਕੀ ਕਰਾਂ।
16 ਤਦ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਨੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਜਦ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਵੈਰੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਫੇਰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਕਿਉਂ ਪੁੱਛਦਾ ਹੈਂ?
17 ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤਾਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਹੋ ਹੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਆਖਿਆ ਸੀ ਕਿ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਹੱਥੋਂ ਰਾਜ ਖੋਹ ਲਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦਾਊਦ ਨੂੰ ਦੇ ਦਿੱਤਾ।
18 ਇਸ ਲਈ ਜੋ ਤੂੰ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਬਚਨ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਤੂੰ ਅਮਾਲੇਕ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਦੀ ਅੱਗ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕੰਮ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਇਸੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਅੱਜ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਇਹ ਕੀਤਾ।
19 ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਸਮੇਤ ਇਸਰਾਏਲ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਕੱਲ ਤੂੰ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੋਲ ਹੋਵੋਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਇਸਰਾਏਲੀ ਦਲ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਫ਼ਲਿਸਤੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਥ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਰ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ।
20 ਤਦ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਉਸੇ ਵੇਲੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਲੰਮਾ ਡਿੱਗ ਪਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਸਮੂਏਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਬਹੁਤ ਡਰ ਗਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਝ ਸਾਹ ਸਤ ਨਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਸਾਰਾ ਦਿਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਰਾਤ ਰੋਟੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਧੀ ਸੀ।
21 ਤਦ ਉਹ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਕੋਲ ਆਈ ਅਤੇ ਜਦ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਅੱਤ ਘਬਰਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖੋ, ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਨੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਗੱਲ ਮੰਨੀ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਜਾਨ ਆਪਣੇ ਹੱਥ ਦੀ ਤਲੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖੀ ਅਤੇ ਜੋ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਖੀਆਂ ਸਨ ਸੋ ਮੰਨ ਲਈਆਂ।
22 ਸੋ ਹੁਣ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦੀ ਹਾਂ ਜੋ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੀ ਦਾਸੀ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਮੰਨੋ ਕਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਪਰਵਾਨਗੀ ਦਿਓ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਰੋਟੀ ਲੈ ਆਵਾਂ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਖਾਓ ਭਈ ਜਿਸ ਵੇਲੇ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਰਾਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਰੋ ਤਾਂ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋਵੇ।
23 ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਨਾ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਖਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਖਾਂਦਾ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਰਲ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਵੱਡੀ ਖਿੱਚ ਕੀਤੀ ਤਾਂ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਆਖਿਆ ਮੰਨਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਧਰਤੀ ਉੱਤੋਂ ਉੱਠ ਕੇ ਮੰਜੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੈਠ ਗਿਆ।
24 ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਇਸਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਮੋਟਾ ਵੱਛਾ ਸੀ ਸੋ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਕੱਟਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਆਟਾ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਗੁੰਨ੍ਹਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਪਤੀਰੀਆਂ ਰੋਟੀਆਂ ਪਕਾਈਆਂ
25 ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਸੇਵਕਾਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਲਿਆ ਕੇ ਰੱਖੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਖਾਧਾ ਤਦ ਉਹ ਉਸੇ ਰਾਤ ਉੱਥੋਂ ਚੱਲ ਪਏ।
