So why did you choose Matthew over the other gospels or anywhere else in the Bible to start with? Is there a particular reason why you decided to start with Matthew? Yes. Originally, I thought this was going to be easier than what it has turned out to be. And so I was optimistically thinking, oh, I will do the entire New Testament, one book at a time. Now, unless the Lord gives me an unusually long life and unusually good health, I don't think I will get through the New Testament.
But the reason for starting with Matthew is just starting with the New Testament. The choice was either starting with Genesis or starting with Matthew. And I felt Matthew, the New Testament would be more of immediate use to my readers. The other thing is, even if I wasn't going that route, if I was just going to pick a book of the Bible, honestly, it would be Matthew. It contains more of Jesus ' teaching than any other book. It was the first gospel written. And it contains more kingdom teaching.
So if we want to see what is the gospel of the kingdom, and that's the term that Matthew uses, then yeah, Matthew is the logical place to start with. We get to see what Jesus's gospel is before we ever get to the epistles or yeah, the general epistles or things like that.
