Story Behind the Song
Gloria Gaither wrote this hymn text in 1981 as a prayer of Christian discipleship and forgiveness. It is commonly sung to FINLANDIA, the melody Jean Sibelius wrote for his 1899 tone poem Finlandia, a tune also widely associated with “Be Still, My Soul.” Don Marsh is often credited with the choral or published arrangement used in modern performances.
