Story Behind the Song
"How Many Kings" is a contemporary Christmas song written by Marc Martel and Jason Germain of the Canadian Christian band Downhere. It became associated with Downhere's Christmas repertoire, especially the 2009 album How Many Kings: Songs for Christmas. The text reflects on the humility of the incarnation, contrasting earthly kingship with Christ's willingness to come as a child and give himself for humanity.
