Understanding Paul's Perspective on Women's Head Coverings

Lesson Transcript

"The woman does not acquire a man's dignity, but loses even the propriety which she had." So after acknowledging what was evidently disgraceful and saying, "But if it's shameful for a woman to be shorn or shaven," Paul suggests his own conclusion, saying, "Let her be covered." And notice, he didn't say she should have long hair.

He says, "She should be covered." In this, Paul is implying that both the head covering and the hair serve the same purpose, and that the woman whose head is shaved is effectively the same as the one with no head covering, for it's the same, he says, as if she were shaved.
