The question then was followed with, how do we greet one another with a holy kiss today? And I take the question to mean, do we still actually kiss today, or in our culture, would a hug or a handshake be the same thing of what a kiss was back then? You know, back then it was an ordinary thing for people to greet one another with a kiss, at least people of the same gender.
You know, there's the quote that we read earlier from Cyril of Alexandria, rather Cyril of Jerusalem, and he said, you know, the kiss we do during communion is different from when we meet one another on the street or when people meet one another on the street. So it was common then, just like it still is in the Middle East, for people to greet one another with a kiss. Join us in earnestly contending for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
