Lesson Transcript

So I'm reading this, and I think you just mentioned the quote where he talked about God, or maybe it was in a private conversation where God divided the nations according to the number of angels. Yeah. And I remember looking at that and thinking, I thought it said according to the tribes of Israel or something like that. And then I looked in the footnote and it said, oh, he's quoting from the Septuagint. And that's the first time I realized that the early Christians were using the Septuagint as their Old Testament.

Now, I didn't know that just from this one quote, but then when you read the other books, you start seeing all of them. That's all they quote is the Septuagint. Generally speaking, there might be a stray quote here and there from the Masoretic text. So that was really new to me, that the Septuagint was the Old Testament of the early Christians. Join us in earnestly contending for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
