Salvation, Works, and Grace: Understanding Paul's Message

But I'm going to, at the beginning, tell you, you are going to be judged based on your works after you have been saved, after you come on the vine. So don't misunderstand what I'm about to say. Now, he doesn't just leave it at that. Chapter 6, he comes right back, talks about works again, and he does it all throughout Romans, just to be sure that no one misunderstands him. But you can play games and just pick this chapter and that, and come away with a totally different message.

But there is one important thing to remember. Even though Paul does not talk about grace in this chapter, we should never imagine that we could obtain eternal life apart from God's grace. That is, apart from His mercy and His loving kindness. He would have good reason to cross every one of us off of the list to obtain eternal life.
