And then to add on to that, I believe Jesus had a deep respect for the law. I would say that he liked David, delighted in the law. For when he came down on his sermon on the mount, and he said he did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. Meaning Jesus didn't want to just stand up there and trash the law about how it wasn't that great, and it did all these things. He wanted to perfect it, to fulfill its potential, because he understood the heart of the law.
And so before we go any further, I just want to take a brief moment to look at the background and how merciful God was by giving the people of David.
