When you are a slave to all, and you love your enemies, and you bring your body into subjection, and you confess your sins, and you fast, when you think of others as being more important than you are, when you humble yourself, you are submitting to God. To submit to God is to resist the devil. Therefore, humble yourself, and the devil will flee. I hope you can see how all these are connected. In this part right here, this is the key for us: humility. This is the lynchpin. This is our point of contact.
This is where our rubber meets the road: humility. We are told over and over, "Humble yourself, humble yourself, humble yourself." It is something that we have power over. It is something that we choose to do. Humility is our point of contact. It is painful, but it comes with a great reward. What is that reward? God gives grace to the humble. God says, "When you humble yourself, an exchange takes place."
