So even though we live within the kingdoms of the world, and even though we obey their laws, the Church is not called to be a part of those kingdoms since we are the Kingdom of God, and our first loyalty and obedience is to Him. But does this mean that the other nations can just disobey God and do what they want? No, because God has always made His will done in spite of their disobedience to Him.
And now Jesus has triumphed over these nations by rising from the dead and ransoming Christians from the principalities and powers. And in the end, Jesus will return in triumph, and He will rule over the nations and bless the whole world, as God had promised Abraham long ago. But what happens until Jesus returns? While we wait for Jesus, God calls the Church to come out from among the nations, just as He called Israel to do.
