They more or less have one leg in and one leg out. And so Origen says, "In the Christ of God, thus shows his superiority to all rulers by entering into their several provinces and summoning men out of them to be subject to himself." This is maybe one of my favorite short one-sentence quotes because it shows the epic reality of what we as Christians are doing here on this earth. Like, we, the church, is the way that Christ is entering into the nations.
It's by her teachings that Christ is showing his superiority, and it is by baptism that we are pulling people out of the nations so that they may be subject to the King of kings and the Lord of lords. And so I believe we have a call unlike any other.
