There's times where we cut off the branch we're sitting on, and we don't know it. And if we don't listen, we'll end up with consequences because of it. So, simple Sam, here's his dad calling out to him and trying to offer him wisdom, how things will work out so Sam can make a good choice so that he doesn't have regrets. And Sam says, "I'm not going to listen to you. I like doing it this way." See, his tongue's sticking out. That was about the best way I knew how to do this. He's not going to listen to Dad.
He's going to do it his own way. Now Sam is no longer simple. Now Sam is a fool because he has chosen—he doesn't want to listen to understanding, to wisdom about how things work and make a good choice. He's chosen to stay in his ignorance.
