Lesson Transcript

People don't greet a friend with a kiss. It is not part of our culture in the West, certainly not in the United States. And as far as I know, it's not in most European countries, Western European countries. Okay, so a good argument can be made. Paul and Peter, when they're saying this, they're—what they're focusing on isn't so much the kiss itself as greeting one another. And the way you would do it in the 21st century in the United States to show affection for somebody would be to give them a hug.

Or if maybe that wasn't appropriate or the degree of affection wasn't to that degree, you might greet them with a handshake. Join us in earnestly contending for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.
