You Are Holy / Noel

Words by Per Harling; Chris Tomlin, Ed Cash, Matt RedmanMusic by Per Harling; Chris Tomlin, Ed Cash, Matt RedmanWritten 1990; 2015Tune DU ÄR HELIG; NOEL

You are holy, you are whole.
You are always ever more
Than we ever understand.
You are always at hand.
Blessed are you coming near.
Blessed are you coming here
To your church in wine and bread,
Raised from soil, raised from dead.

Noel, Noel,
Come and see what God has done.
Noel, Noel,
The story of amazing love.
The light of the world, given for us,
Noel.

Story Behind the Song

This choral piece is a medley of Per Harling's communion hymn 'You Are Holy' and the modern Christmas worship song 'Noel' by Chris Tomlin, Ed Cash, and Matt Redman. Harling's 'You Are Holy' originated as the Swedish song 'Du är helig' and is found in Lutheran hymnals. 'Noel' was introduced through Chris Tomlin's 2015 Christmas worship project 'Adore' and is widely circulated through contemporary worship publishers.
