Speak, O Lord, as we come to You
To receive the food of Your Holy Word.
Take Your truth, plant it deep in us;
Shape and fashion us in Your likeness,

Story Behind the Song
“Speak, O Lord” is a contemporary hymn by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend, written as a congregational prayer for God to speak through Scripture. It is often used before sermons or Scripture readings, functioning much like a traditional prayer for illumination. The hymn became widely adopted in evangelical and mainline hymnals as part of the early twenty-first-century modern hymn movement associated with Getty and Townend.
