Yonder come day,
Day is a-breakin';

Story Behind the Song
"Yonder Come Day" is a traditional African American spiritual associated especially with the Gullah/Geechee communities of the Georgia Sea Islands. It was transmitted orally and has been collected, recorded, and arranged in multiple versions, so there is not a single fixed canonical text. The song’s imagery of daybreak and a rising sun is commonly understood as an expression of hope, deliverance, and spiritual renewal.
