Words by Dag HammarskjöldMusic by René Clausen
Dear Jesus, help me to spread your fragrance everywhere I go.
Flood my soul with your spirit and life.
Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly
that all my life may only be a radiance of yours.
Story Behind the Song
This is a modern choral anthem by René Clausen setting a brief devotional text attributed to Dag Hammarskjöld, the Swedish diplomat and former Secretary-General of the United Nations. The text is commonly associated with Hammarskjöld's posthumously published spiritual journal Markings. It is a concert/church choral work rather than a traditional congregational hymn, so it has no standard hymn tune name.
