In My Father's House
Words by Biblical text, from John 14Music by Philip Stopford
In my Father's house are many mansions:
if it were not so, I would have told you.
I go to prepare a place for you.
Story Behind the Song
This is a contemporary sacred choral anthem by Philip Stopford, setting words from Jesus' farewell discourse in John 14. The text's promise of a prepared place in the Father's house has made it especially suitable for memorial, funeral, and reflective church services. It is an anthem rather than a congregational hymn with a standard tune name.
