I Will Rise
Words by Chris Tomlin, Jesse Reeves, Louie Giglio, Matt MaherMusic by Chris Tomlin, Jesse Reeves, Louie Giglio, Matt MaherWritten 2008
There's a peace I've come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There's an anchor for my soul
I can say, "It is well"
And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagle's wings
Story Behind the Song
“I Will Rise” is a contemporary worship song written by Chris Tomlin, Jesse Reeves, Louie Giglio, and Matt Maher and published in 2008. The song centers on Christian resurrection hope: Christ has conquered death, and believers will rise when called by him. Its imagery draws especially on New Testament promises of victory over death and the heavenly worship of the Lamb.
