Abide in Me - Herbert Martin
Description
Abide in Me
Words by Harriet Beecher Stowe; altered by Julia MartinMusic by Herbert MartinWritten c. 1867
Abide in me, O Lord, and I in Thee,
From this good hour, O leave me nevermore;
Then shall the discord cease,
The wounds be healed,
The lifelong bleeding of the soul be o'er.
Abide in me, these moments have been blest,
For I have heard Thy voice and felt Thy power;
Then evil lost its grasp,
And passion, hushed,
Owned the divine possession of the hour.
Abide in me; o'ershadowed by Thy love;
Each half-formed purpose and dark thought of sin,
Each selfish, wayward thought,
Quench ere it rise,
And keep my soul as Thine, calm and divine.
