then shall they bring out the damsel to the doors of her father’s house, and shall stone her with stones, and she shall die; because she has wrought folly among the children of Israel, to defile the house of her father by whoring: so thou shalt remove the evil one from among you.

And the master of the house came out to them, and said, Nay, brethren, do not ye wrong, I pray you, after this man has come into my house; do not ye this folly.

Behold my daughter a virgin, and the man’s concubine: I will bring them out, and humble ye them, and do to them that which is good in your eyes; but to this man do not this folly.

Let not my lord, I pray thee, take to heart this pestilent man, for according to his name, so is he; Nabal is his name, and folly is with him: but I thy handmaid saw not the servants of my lord whom thou didst send.

And she said to him, Nay, my brother, do not humble me, for it ought not to be so done in Israel; do not this folly.

In all these events that befell him Job sinned not at all before the Lord, And did not impute folly to God.

Is not thy fear founded in folly, Thy hope also, and the mischief of thy way?

My bruises have become noisome and corrupt, Because of my foolishness.

O God, thou knowest my foolishness; And my transgressions are not hidden from thee.

For the feet of folly lead Those who deal with her down to the grave with death; And her steps are not established.

Such a man dies with the uninstructed; And he is cast forth from the abundance of his own substance, And has perished through folly.

Leave folly, that ye may reign forever; And seek wisdom, And improve understanding by knowledge.

A senseless man feels no need of wisdom, For he is rather led by folly.

Whoso answers a word before he hears a cause, It is folly and reproach to him.

The folly of a man spoils his ways: And he blames God in his heart.

And I examined whether my heart Would excite my flesh as with wine (Though my heart guided me in wisdom), And I desired to lay hold of mirth, Until I should see of what kind is the good to the sons of men, Which they should do under the sun All the days of their life.

Then I looked on to see wisdom, And madness, and folly: For who is the man who will follow after counsel, In all things wherein he employs it?

And I saw that wisdom excels folly, As much as light excels darkness.

I and my heart went round about to know, And to examine, and to seek wisdom, and the account of things, And to know the folly and trouble And madness of the ungodly man.

The words of the wise are heard in quiet More than the cry of them that rule in folly.

Pestilent flies will corrupt a preparation of sweet ointment: And a little wisdom is more precious than great glory of folly.

Yea, and whenever a fool walks by the way, His heart will fail him, And all that he thinks of is folly.

The beginning of the words of his mouth is folly: And the end of his talk mischievous madness.

Thy prophets have seen for thee Vanities and folly: And they have not discovered thine iniquity, To turn back thy captivity; But they have seen for thee vain burdens, And worthless visions.

Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

That which I speak, I speak it not after the Lord, but as it were foolishly, in this confidence of boasting.

I speak as concerning reproach, as though we had been weak. Howbeit whereinsoever any is bold, (I speak foolishly,) I am bold also.

For regarding not wisdom, They got not only this hurt, that they knew not the things which were good; But also left behind them to the world a memorial of their foolishness: So that in the things wherein they offended they could not so much as be hidden.

Wherefore, whereas men have lived dissolutely and unrighteously, Thou hast tormented them with their own abominations.

Travel not by the way with a bold fellow, Lest he become grievous unto thee: For he will do according to his own will, And thou shalt perish with him through his folly.

Beware that thou be not deceived, And brought down in thy jollity.

Thou didst stain thy honor, And pollute thy seed: So that thou broughtest wrath upon thy children, And wast grieved for thy folly.

Thus rested Solomon with his fathers, And of his seed he left behind him Rehoboam, Even the foolishness of the people, and one that had no understanding, Who turned away the people through his counsel. There was also Jeroboam the son of Nebat, Who caused Israel to sin, And showed Ephraim the way of sin:

Woe to you, ye fools, for through your folly shall ye perish: and ye transgress against the wise,

And they shall become godless by reason of the folly of their hearts, And their eyes shall be blinded through the fear of their hearts And through visions in their dreams.
