And Leah conceived and bore a son to Jacob; and she called his name, Reuben; saying, Because the Lord has looked on my humiliation, and has given me a son, now then my husband will love me.

And Reuben went in the day of barley harvest, and found apples of mandrakes in the field, and brought them to his mother Leah; and Rachel said to Leah her sister, Give me of thy son’s mandrakes.

And it came to pass when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah, the concubine of his father Jacob; and Israel heard, and the thing appeared grievous before him. And the sons of Jacob were twelve.

The sons of Leah, the firstborn of Jacob; Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun.

And Reuben having heard it, rescued him out of their hands, and said, Let us not kill him.

And Reuben said to them, Shed not blood; cast him into one of these pits in the wilderness, but do not lay your hand upon him; that he might rescue him out of their hands, and restore him to his father.

And Reuben returned to the pit, and sees not Joseph in the pit; and he rent his garments.

And Reuben answered them, saying, Did I not speak to you, saying, Hurt not the boy, and ye heard me not? and, behold, his blood is required.

And Reuben spoke to his father, saying, Slay my two sons, if I bring him not to thee; give him into my hand, and I will bring him back to thee.

And these are the names of the sons of Israel that went into Egypt with their father Jacob—Jacob and his sons. The firstborn of Jacob, Reuben.

And the sons of Reuben; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

Now then thy two sons, who were born to thee in the land of Egypt, before I came to thee into Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh, as Reuben and Simeon they shall be mine.

Reuben, thou art my firstborn, Thou my strength, and the first of my children, Hard to be endured, hard and self-willed.

Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah,

And these are the heads of the houses of their families: the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi, this is the kindred of Reuben.

And these are the names of the men who shall be present with you; of the tribe of Reuben, Elizur the son of Shedeur.

And the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel according to their kindred, according to their divisions, according to the houses of their families, according to the number of their names, according to their heads, were—all males from twenty years old and upward, everyone that went out with the host—

the numbering of them of the tribe of Reuben, was forty-six thousand and four hundred.

This is the order of the camp of Reuben; their forces shall be toward the south, and the prince of the children of Reuben shall be Elizur the son of Shedeur.

All who were numbered of the camp of Reuben, were a hundred and fifty-one thousand and four hundred and fifty: they with their forces shall proceed in the second place.

On the fourth day Elizur the son of Shedeur, the prince of the children of Reuben.

And the order of the camp of Reuben set forward with their host; and over their host was Elizur the son of Shedeur.

And these are their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.

And Korah the son of Izhar the son of Kohath the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth the son of Reuben, spoke;

Reuben was the firstborn of Israel: and the sons of Reuben, Hanoch, and the family of Hanoch; to Pallu belongs the family of the Palluites.

These are the families of Reuben; and their numbering was forty-three thousand and seven hundred and thirty.

And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad had a multitude of cattle, very great; and they saw the land of Jazer, and the land of Gilead; and the place was a place for cattle:

and the children of Reuben and the children of Gad came, and spoke to Moses, and to Eleazar the priest, and to the princes of the congregation, saying,

And Moses said to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, Shall your brethren go to war, and shall ye sit here?

And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad spoke to Moses, saying, Thy servants will do as our lord commands.

And Moses said to them, If the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad will pass over Jordan with you, every one armed for war before the Lord, and ye shall subdue the land before you, then ye shall give to them the land of Gilead for a possession.

And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad answered, saying, Whatsoever the Lord says to his servants, that will we do.

And Moses gave to them, even to the sons of Gad and the sons of Reuben, and to the half tribe of Manasseh of the sons of Joseph, the kingdom of Sihon king of the Amorites, and the kingdom of Og king of Bashan, the land and its cities with its coasts, the cities of the land round about.

And the sons of Reuben built Heshbon, and Elealeh, and Kiriathaim,

For the tribe of the children of Reuben, and the tribe of the children of Gad have received their inheritance according to their families; and the half-tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritances.

And we inherited that land at that time from Aroer, which is by the border of the torrent Arnon, and half the mount of Gilead; and I gave his cities to Reuben and to Gad.

And to Reuben and to Gad I gave the land under Gilead as far as the brook of Arnon, the border between the brook and as far as Jabbok; the brook is the border to the children of Ammon.

Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead belonging to Gad, and Golan in Bashan belonging to Manasseh.

and all things that he did to Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab the son of Reuben, whom the earth opening her mouth swallowed up, and their houses, and their tents, and all their substance that was with them, in the midst of all Israel:

And these shall stand for cursing on Mount Ebal; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.

And ye came as far as this place; and there came forth Sihon king of Heshbon, and Og king of Bashan, to meet us in war.

Let Reuben live, and not die; And let him be many in number.

And to Reuben, and to Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh, Joshua said,

And the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh passed over armed before the children of Israel, as Moses commanded them.

Moses the servant of the Lord and the children of Israel smote them; and Moses gave them by way of inheritance to Reuben, and Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.

From Jordan to the great sea westward thou shalt give it them: the great sea shall be the boundary. But to the two tribes and to the half tribe of Manasseh, to Reuben and to Gad Moses gave an inheritance beyond Jordan: Moses the servant of the Lord gave it to them eastward,

And Moses gave the land to the tribe of Reuben according to their families.

And the borders of Reuben were—even Jordan was the boundary; this is the inheritance of the children of Reuben according to their families, these were their cities and their villages.

the borders go up to Beth-hoglah, and they go along from the north to Beth-arabah, and the borders go on up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben.

For the sons of Levi have no part among you; for the priesthood of the Lord is his portion; and Gad, and Reuben, and the half tribe of Manasseh, have received their inheritance beyond Jordan eastward, which Moses the servant of the Lord gave to them.

And the borders shall go across to the fountain of Beth-shemesh:

And beyond Jordan he appointed Bezer in the wilderness in the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in the country of Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.

And the sons of Merari according to their families had by lot twelve cities, out of the tribe of Reuben, and out of the tribe of Gad, and out of the tribe of Zebulun.

And beyond Jordan over against Jericho, out of the tribe of Reuben, the city of refuge for the slayer, Bezer in the wilderness; Miso and its suburbs; and Jahaz and its suburbs;

Then Joshua called together the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh,

So the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh, departed from the children of Israel in Shiloh in the land of Canaan, to go away into Gilead, into the land of their possession, which they inherited by the command of the Lord, by the hand of Moses.

And they came to Gilead of Jordan, which is in the land of Canaan: and the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh built there an altar by Jordan, a great altar to look at.

And the children of Israel heard say, Behold, the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar at the borders of the land of Canaan at Gilead of Jordan, on the opposite side to the children of Israel.

And the children of Israel sent to the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and to the sons of the half tribe of Manasseh into the land of Gilead, both Phinehas the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest,

And they came to the sons of Reuben, and to the sons of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh into the land of Gilead; and they spoke to them, saying,

And the sons of Reuben, and the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh answered, and spoke to the captains of the thousands of Israel, saying,

And Phinehas the priest and all the chiefs of the congregation of Israel who were with him heard the words which the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh spoke; and it pleased them.

And Phinehas the priest said to the sons of Reuben, and to the sons of Gad, and to the half of the tribe of Manasseh, Today we know that the Lord is with us, because ye have not trespassed grievously against the Lord, and because ye have delivered the children of Israel out of the hand of the Lord.

So Phinehas the priest and the princes departed from the children of Reuben, and from the children of Gad, and from the half tribe of Manasseh out of Gilead into the land of Canaan to the children of Israel; and reported the words to them.

And it pleased the children of Israel; and they spoke to the children of Israel, and blessed the God of the children of Israel, and told them to go up no more to war against the others to destroy the land of the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh: so they dwelt upon it.

And Joshua gave a name to the altar of the children of Reuben, and the children of Gad, and of the half tribe of Manasseh; and said, It is a testimony in the midst of them, that the Lord is their God.

And princes in Issachar were with Deborah and Barak, Thus she sent Barak on his feet in the valleys Into the portions of Reuben; Great pangs reached to the heart.

Why did they sit between the sheepfolds To hear the bleating of flocks For the divisions of Reuben? There were great searchings of heart.

from Jordan eastward all the land of Gilead belonging to the Gadites, of Gad and that of Reuben, and of Manasseh, from Aroer, which is on the brink of the brook of Arnon, and Gilead and Bashan.

These are the names of the sons of Israel;

And the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel (for he was the firstborn; but because of his going up to his father’s couch, his father gave his blessing to his son Joseph, even the son of Israel; and he was not reckoned as firstborn;

The sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

his son Beerah, whom Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria carried away captive: he is the chief of the Reubenites.

The sons of Reuben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, of mighty men, bearing shields and sword, and bending the bow, and skilled in war, were forty and four thousand and seven hundred and sixty, going forth to battle.

And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul king of Assyria, and the spirit of Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and carried away Reuben and Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh, and brought them to Halah, and Habor, and to the river Gozan, until this day.

And to the sons of Merari according to their families there were given, by lot, twelve cities of the tribe of Reuben, of the tribe of Gad, and of the tribe of Zebulun.

out of the country beyond Jordan; Jericho westward of Jordan: out of the tribe of Reuben; Bezer in the wilderness and her suburbs, and Jahzah and her suburbs,

Adina son of Shiza, a chief of Reuben, and thirty with him,

And from the country beyond Jordan, from Reuben, and the Gadites, and from the half-tribe of Manasseh, a hundred and twenty thousand, with all weapons of war.

And over the tribes of Israel, the chief for Reuben was Eliezer the son of Zichri: for Simeon, Shephatiah the son of Maacah:

And from the borders of Ephraim, from the eastern parts to the west coasts, for Reuben, one.

And from the borders of Reuben, from the eastern parts as far as the west coasts, for Judah, one.

And the gates of the city shall be after the names of the tribes of Israel: three gates northward; the gate of Reuben, one, and the gate of Judah, one, and the gate of Levi, one.

Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
