Let my speech be looked for as the rain, And my words come down as dew, As the shower upon the herbage, And as snow upon the grass.

My soul has waited for reproach and misery; And I waited for one to grieve with me, but there was none; And for one to comfort me, but I found none.

All wait upon thee, To give them their food in due season.

I waited for thy salvation, O Lord, And have loved thy commandments.

All thine enemies have opened their mouth against thee: They have hissed and gnashed their teeth, And said, We have swallowed her up: Moreover this is the day which we looked for; We have found it, we have seen it.

And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

And the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.

And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not;

And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?

When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?

And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him.

The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.

And the morrow after they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them, and he had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.

Howbeit they looked when he should have swollen, or fallen down dead suddenly: but after they had looked a great while, and saw no harm come to him, they changed their minds, and said that he was a god.

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

So when he was ready to die he said thus, It is good, being put to death by men, to look for hope from God to be raised up again by him: as for thee, thou shalt have no resurrection to life.

Again, considering how that the princes that are borderers and neighbors unto my kingdom wait for opportunities, and expect what shall be the event, I have appointed my son Antiochus king, whom I often committed and commended unto many of you, when I went up into the high provinces; to whom I have written as followeth:

for if he had not hoped that they that were slain should have risen again, it had been superfluous and vain to pray for the dead.

wherefore he exhorted his people not to fear the coming of the heathen against them, but to remember the help which in former times they had received from heaven, and now to expect the victory and aid, which should come unto them from the Almighty.

And now, when as all looked what should be the trial, and the enemies were already come near, and the army was set in array, and the beasts conveniently placed, and the horsemen set in wings,

The city crowds were collected together to see the hideous spectacle, and waited impatiently for the dawn.

Therefore, whereas thou dost chasten us, thou scourgest our enemies a thousand times more, To the intent that, when we judge, we should carefully think of thy goodness, And when we ourselves are judged, we should look for mercy.
