And he took up his parable, and said, Balak king of Moab sent for me out of Mesopotamia, Out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, And Come, call for a curse for me upon Israel.

And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; Hearken as a witness, thou son of Zippor.

And thou shalt be there for a wonder, and a parable, and a tale, among all the nations, to which the Lord thy God shall carry thee away.

then will I remove you from the land which I gave them; and this house which I have consecrated to my name I will remove out of my sight, and I will make it a proverb and a byword among all nations.

I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my riddle on the harp.

Therefore say to them, Thus saith the Lord; I will even set aside this parable, and the house of Israel shall no more at all use this parable: for thou shalt say to them, The days are at hand, and the import of every vision.

These are all the things they have spoken against thee in a proverb, saying,

Son of man, relate a tale, and speak a parable to the house of Israel:

Son of man, what mean ye by this parable among the children of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten unripe grapes, and the children’s teeth have been set on edge?

As I live, saith the Lord, surely this parable shall no more be spoken in Israel.

And fire is gone out of a rod of her choice boughs, and has devoured her; and there was no rod of strength in her. Her race is become a parable of lamentation, and it shall be for a lamentation.

And I said, Not so, O Lord God! they say to me, Is not this that is spoken a parable?

Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.

Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:

And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.

And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan?

And he taught them many things by parables, and said unto them in his doctrine,

And when he was alone, they that were about him with the twelve asked of him the parable.

And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?

And he said, Whereunto shall we liken the kingdom of God? or with what comparison shall we compare it?

And with many such parables spake he the word unto them, as they were able to hear it.

But without a parable spake he not unto them: and when they were alone, he expounded all things to his disciples.

And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.

And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about it, and digged a place for the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.

And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the people: for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went their way.

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:

And he said unto them, Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.

Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience;

Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.

for they obeyed not thy commandments: wherefore thou hast delivered us for a spoil, and unto captivity, and unto death, and for a proverb of reproach to all the nations among whom we are dispersed.

We fools accounted his life madness, And his end to be without honor:

But godliness is an abomination to a sinner.

The heart of the prudent will understand a parable; And an attentive ear is the desire of a wise man.

A cheerful countenance is a token of a heart that is in prosperity; And the finding out of parables is a wearisome labor of the mind.

A wise sentence shall be rejected when it cometh out of a fool’s mouth; For he will not speak it in due season.

But they will maintain the state of the world, And all their desire is in the work of their craft. But he that giveth his mind to the law of the most High, And is occupied in the meditation thereof,

He will keep the sayings of the renowned men: And where subtle parables are, he will be there also.

He will seek out the secrets of grave sentences, And be conversant in dark parables.

Thy soul covered the whole earth, And thou filledst it with dark parables.

The countries marveled at thee for thy songs, And proverbs, and parables, and interpretations.
