Strong's G2401 Ἰδουμαία (idoumaia)

chief Korah, chief Gatam, chief Amalek. These are the chiefs of Eliphaz, in the land of Edom; these are the sons of Adah.

And the borders of the tribe of Judah according to their families were from the borders of Edom from the wilderness of Zin, as far as Kadesh southward.

out of Edom, and out of Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek, and from the spoils of Hadadezer son of Rehob king of Zobah.

And David made himself a name: and when he returned he smote Edom in Gebelem to the number of eighteen thousand.

And he set garrisons in Edom, even in all Edom: and all the Edomites were servants to the king. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

And it happened, that while David was utterly destroying Edom, while Joab captain of the host was going to bury the dead, when they slew every male in Edom

(for Joab and all Israel abode there six months in Edom, until he utterly destroyed every male in Edom);

Thou hast smitten and wounded Edom, and thy heart has lifted thee up: stay at home and glorify thyself; for wherefore art thou quarrelsome to thy hurt? So both thou wilt fall and Judah with thee.

And all the golden and silver and brazen vessels, even these King David consecrated to the Lord, with the silver and the gold which he took from all the nations; from Edom, and Moab, and from the children of Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from Amalek.

And Abishai son of Zeruiah smote the Edomites in the Valley of Salt, eighteen thousand.

Then Solomon went to Ezion-geber, and to Eloth near the sea in the land of Edom.

And it came to pass, after Amaziah had returned from smiting Edom, that he brought home the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up for himself as gods, and bowed down before them, and he sacrificed to them.

Thou hast said, Behold, I have smitten Edom, and thy stout heart exalts thee: now stay at home; for why dost thou implicate thyself in mischief, that thou shouldest fall, and Judah with thee?

Nevertheless Amaziah hearkened not, for it was of the Lord to deliver him into the enemy’s hands, because he sought after the gods of the Edomites.

because the Edomites had attacked him, and smitten Judah, and taken a number of prisoners.

Judah is my king; Moab is the caldron of my hope; Over Edom will I stretch out my shoe; The Philistines have been subjected to me.

Who will lead me into the fortified city? Who will guide me as far as Edom?

Moab is the caldron of my hope; Over Edom will I cast my sandal; The Philistines are made subject to me.

Who will bring me into the fortified city? Or who will guide me to Edom?

And they shall fly in the ships of the Philistines: they shall at the same time spoil the sea, and them that come from the east, and Edom: and they shall lay their hands on Moab first; but the children of Ammon shall first obey them.

The vision of Edom. Call to me out of Seir; guard ye the bulwarks.

My sword has been made drunk in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Edom, and with judgment upon the people doomed to destruction.

The sword of the Lord is filled with blood, it is glutted with fat, with the blood of goats and lambs, and with the fat of goats and rams: for the Lord has a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in Edom.

and Edom, and the land of Moab, and the children of Ammon,

and thou shalt send them to the king of Edom, and to the king of Moab, and to the king of the children of Ammon, and to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon, by the hands of their messengers that come to meet them at Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah.

And all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the children of Ammon, and those that were in Edom, and those that were in all the rest of the country, heard that the king of Babylon had granted a remnant to Judah, and that he had appointed over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam.

Rejoice and be glad, O daughter of Edom, That dwellest in the land: Yet the cup of the Lord shall pass through to thee: Thou shalt be drunken, and pour forth.

Thus saith the Lord; Because of what the Edomites have done in taking vengeance on the house of Judah, and because they have remembered injuries, and have exacted full recompense;

therefore thus saith the Lord; I will also stretch out my hand upon Edom, and will utterly destroy out of it man and beast; and will make it desolate; and they that are pursued out of Teman shall fall by the sword.

And I will execute my vengeance on Edom by the hand of my people Israel: and they shall deal in Edom according to mine anger and according to my wrath, and they shall know my vengeance, saith the Lord.

Thou shalt be desert, O Mount Seir, and all Edom; and it shall be utterly consumed: and thou shalt know that I am the Lord their God.

therefore thus saith the Lord; Verily in the fire of my wrath have I spoken against the rest of the nations, and against all Edom, because they have appropriated my land to themselves for a possession with joy, disregarding the lives of the inhabitants, to destroy it by plunder:

Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate plain, because of the wrongs of the children of Judah, because they have shed righteous blood in their land.

Thus saith the Lord; For three sins of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn away from them; because they took prisoners the captivity of Solomon, to shut them up into Edom.

Thus saith the Lord; For three transgressions of Tyre, and for four, I will not turn away from it; because they shut up the prisoners of Solomon into Edom, and remembered not the covenant of brethren.

Thus saith the Lord; For three sins of Edom, and for four, I will not turn away from them; because they pursued their brother with the sword, and destroyed the mother upon the earth, and summoned up his anger for a testimony, and kept up his fury to the end.

Thus saith the Lord; For three sins of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away from it; because they burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime.

The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord God to Edom; I have heard a report from the Lord, and he has sent forth a message to the nations.

In that day, saith the Lord, I will destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau.

Because one will say, Edom has been overthrown, but let us return and rebuild the desolate places; thus saith the Lord Almighty, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall be called The borders of wickedness, and, The people against whom the Lord has set himself forever.

And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.

Howbeit all the hindmost of them were slain with the sword: for they pursued them unto Gazara, and unto the plains of Idumea, and Azotus, and Jamnia, so that there were slain of them as many as three thousand men.

So they came into Idumea, and pitched their tents at Beth-zur, and Judas met them with ten thousand men.

And they set there a garrison to keep it, and fortified Beth-zur to preserve it; that the people might have a defense against Idumea.

Then Judas fought against the children of Esau in Idumea at Akrabattene, because they besieged Israel: and he gave them a great overthrow, and abated their courage, and took their spoils.

These went through Idumea, and pitched against Beth-zur, which they assaulted many days, making engines; but they of Beth-zur came out, and burned them with fire, and fought valiantly.

And after the feast, called Pentecost, they went forth against Gorgias the governor of Idumea,
