And God made great whales, and every living reptile, which the waters brought forth according to their kinds, and every creature that flies with wings according to its kind, and God saw that they were good.

And to Enoch was born Irad; and Irad begot Mehujael; and Mehujael begot Methushael; and Methushael begot Lamech.

Or didst thou take clay of the ground, and form a living creature, And set it with the power of speech upon the earth?

Thy creatures dwell in it: Thou hast in thy goodness prepared for the poor.

So is this great and wide sea: There are things creeping innumerable, Small animals and great.

And fillest every living thing with pleasure.

And in the midst as it were the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; the likeness of a man was upon them.

And in the midst of the living creatures there was an appearance as of burning coals of fire, as an appearance of lamps turning among the living creatures; and the brightness of fire, and out of the fire came forth lightning.

And I looked, and, behold, the four had each one wheel on the ground near the living creatures.

And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by them: and when the living creatures lifted themselves off the earth, the wheels were lifted off.

Wherever the cloud happened to be, there was the spirit ready to go: the wheels went and were lifted up with them; because the spirit of life was in the wheels.

And the likeness over the heads of the living creatures was as a firmament, as the appearance of crystal, spread out over their wings above.

And I perceived the sound of the wings of the living creatures clapping one to the other, and the sound of the wheels was near them, and the sound of the earthquake.

And the cherubs were the same living creature which I saw by the river of Chebar.

This is the living creature which I saw under the God of Israel by the river of Chebar; and I knew that they were cherubs.

And it shall come to pass, that every animal of living and moving creatures, all on which the river shall come, shall live: and there shall be there very many fish; for this water shall go thither, and it shall heal them, and they shall live: everything on which the river shall come shall live.

O Lord, I have heard thy report, and was afraid: I considered thy works, and was amazed: Thou shalt be known between the two living creatures, Thou shalt be acknowledged when the years draw nigh; Thou shalt be manifested when the time is come; When my soul is troubled, thou wilt in wrath remember mercy.

For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.

But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, LORD God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;

And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.

And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.

And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,

And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth.

And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.

And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.

It seems senseless not to enjoy what is pleasant, yet not disgraceful; and from notions of sinfulness, to reject the boons of nature.

where irrational animals possess a similar sympathy and love for their offspring with men.

But why should we point attention to the sympathy toward children shown by irrational animals?

The natures of living creatures, and the furies of wild beasts: The violence of winds, and the reasonings of men: The diversities of plants, and the virtues of roots:

But for the foolish devices of their wickedness, Wherewith being deceived they worshiped serpents void of reason, and vile beasts, Thou didst send a multitude of unreasonable beasts upon them for vengeance:

For they went astray very far in the ways of error, And held them for gods, which even among the beasts of their enemies were despised, Being deceived, as children of no understanding.

But miserable are they, and in dead things is their hope, Who called them gods, which are the works of men’s hands, Gold and silver, to show art in, And resemblances of beasts, Or a stone good for nothing, the work of an ancient hand.

Or made it like some vile beast, Laying it over with vermilion, and with paint coloring it red, And coloring every spot therein;

Yea, they worshiped those beasts also that are most hateful: For being compared together, some are worse than others.

Neither are they beautiful, so much as to be desired in respect of beasts: But they went without the praise of God and his blessing.

For sometime the flame was mitigated, That it might not burn up the beasts that were sent against the ungodly; But themselves might see and perceive that they were persecuted with the judgment of God.

Whether it were a whistling wind, Or a melodious noise of birds among the spreading branches, Or a pleasing fall of water running violently,

For they were yet mindful of the things that were done while they sojourned in the strange land, How the ground brought forth flies instead of cattle, And how the river cast up a multitude of frogs instead of fish.

On the other side, the flames wasted not the flesh of the corruptible living things, Though they walked therein; Neither melted they the icy kind of heavenly meat, that was of nature apt to melt.

Every beast loveth his like, And every man loveth his neighbor.

With all manner of living things hath he covered the face thereof; And they shall return into it again.

For therein be strange and wondrous works, Variety of all kinds of beasts, the race of whales.

Shem and Seth were in great honor among men, And so was Adam above every living thing in the creation.
