Phinehas the son of Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest has caused my wrath to cease from the children of Israel, when I was exceedingly jealous among them, and I did not consume the children of Israel in my jealousy.

And it shall be if one shall hear the words of this curse, and shall flatter himself in his heart, saying, Let good happen to me, for I will walk in the error of my heart, lest the sinner destroy the guiltless with him:

For from Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and he that escapes from the mountain of Zion: the zeal of the Lord of hosts shall do this.

For wrath destroys the foolish one, And envy slays him that has gone astray.

A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evildoers, Neither be envious of them that do iniquity.

For the zeal of thy house has eaten me up; And the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.

How long, O Lord? wilt thou be angry forever? Shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

Thy zeal has quite wasted me: Because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.

Phinehas our father in being zealous and fervent obtained the covenant of an everlasting priesthood.

Elijah for being zealous and fervent for the law was taken up into heaven.

and that they committed their government to one man every year, who ruled over all their country, and that all were obedient to that one, and that there was neither envy nor emulation among them.

He shall take to him his jealousy for complete armor, And make the creature his weapon for the revenge of his enemies.

And carefulness bringeth age before the time.

From him that weareth purple and a crown, Unto him that is clothed with a linen frock.
