But the roots of the godly are firmly set.

But the works of the ungodly are far from knowledge.

The way of the godly is made straight: the way of the godly is also prepared.

But the godly have devised wise measures, and this counsel shall stand.

A devout man, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.

And when the angel which spake unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants, and a devout soldier of them that waited on him continually;

And one Ananias, a devout man according to the law, having a good report of all the Jews which dwelt there,

The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

Therefore now pray thou for us, because thou art a godly woman, and the Lord will send us rain to fill our cisterns, and we shall faint no more.

For when our fathers were led into Persia, the priests that were then devout took the fire of the altar privily, and hid it in a hollow place of a pit without water, where they kept it sure, so that the place was unknown to all men.

For religious understanding, O tyrant, is unconquered.

If then, the seven brethren despised troubles even unto death, it is confessed on all sides that righteous reasoning is absolute master over the passions.

But religious reasoning, having strengthened her courage in the midst of sufferings, enabled her to forego, for the time, parental love.

If, then, even a woman, and that an aged one, and the mother of seven children, endured to see her children’s torments even unto death, confessedly religious reasoning is master even of the passions.

For they became the atonement to the sin of the nation; and the Divine Providence saved Israel, aforetime afflicted, by the blood of those pious ones, and their propitiatory death.

Knowing that religious reasoning is lord of the passions, and those not only inward but outward.

The gift of the Lord remaineth with the godly, And his favor bringeth prosperity forever.

The blessing of the Lord is in the reward of the godly, And suddenly he maketh his blessing to flourish.

Do good to the godly man, and thou shalt find a recompense; And if not from him, yet from the most High.

Give to the godly man, And help not a sinner.

What fellowship hath the wolf with the lamb? So the sinner with the godly.

The sinner shall not escape with his spoils: And the patience of the godly shall not be frustrate.

There is a word that is clothed about with death: God grant that it be not found in the heritage of Jacob; For all such things shall be far from the godly, And they shall not wallow in their sins.

The discourse of a godly man is always with wisdom; But a fool changeth as the moon.

They that rejoice at the fall of the righteous shall be taken in the snare; And anguish shall consume them before they die.

It shall not have rule over them that fear God, Neither shall they be burned with the flame thereof.

But be continually with a godly man, Whom thou knowest to keep the commandments of the Lord, Whose mind is according to thy mind, And will sorrow with thee, if thou shalt miscarry.

All these things are for good to the godly: So to the sinners they are turned into evil.

For the Lord hath made all things; And to the godly hath he given wisdom.

shall be their place of judgement. In the last days there shall be upon them the spectacle of righteous judgement in the presence of the righteous for ever: here shall the merciful bless the Lord of glory, the Eternal King.

And over all the righteous and holy He will appoint guardians from amongst the holy angels To guard them as the apple of an eye, Until He makes an end of all wickedness and all sin, And though the righteous sleep a long sleep, they have nought to fear.

Fear ye not, ye souls of the righteous, And be hopeful ye that have died in righteousness.

And yet when ye die the sinners speak over you: " As we die, so die the righteous, And what benefit do they reap for their deeds ?

That all goodness and joy and glory are prepared for them, And written down for the spirits of those who have died in righteousness, And that manifold good shall be given to you in recompense for your labours, And that your lot is abundantly beyond the lot of the living.
