But the earth was unsightly and unfurnished, and darkness was over the deep, and the Spirit of God moved over the water.

In the six hundredth year of the life of Noah, in the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, on this day all the fountains of the abyss were broken up, and the floodgates of heaven were opened.

And the fountains of the deep were closed up, and the floodgates of heaven, and the rain from heaven was withheld.

For the Lord thy God will bring thee into a good and extensive land, where there are torrents of waters, and fountains of deep places issuing through the plains and through the mountains:

And to Joseph he said, His land is of the blessing of the Lord, Of the seasons of sky and dew, And of the deeps of wells below,

The depth said, It is not in me: And the sea said, It is not with me.

And he has also enticed thee out of the mouth of the enemy:

Or hast thou gone to the source of the sea, And walked in the tracks of the deep?

Which descends like flowing water? who has terrified the face of the ungodly?

He makes the deep boil like a brazen caldron; And he regards the sea as a pot of ointment,

And the lowest part of the deep as a captive: He reckons the deep as his range.

Who gathers the waters of the sea as in a bottle; Who lays up the deeps in treasuries.

Thy righteousness is as the mountains of God, Thy judgments are as a great deep: O Lord, thou wilt preserve men and beasts.

Deep calls to deep at the voice of thy cataracts: All thy billows and thy waves have gone over me.

What afflictions many and sore hast thou shown me! Yet thou didst turn and quicken me, And broughtest me again from the depths of the earth.

Thou didst multiply thy righteousness, And didst turn and comfort me, And broughtest me again out of the depths of the earth.

The waters saw thee, O God, The waters saw thee, and feared; And the depths were troubled.

He clove a rock in the wilderness, And made them drink as in a great deep.

The deep, as it were a garment, is his covering: The waters shall stand on the hills.

And he rebuked the Red Sea, and it was dried up: So he led them through the deep as through the wilderness.

They go up to the heavens, And go down to the depths; Their soul melts because of troubles.

All that the Lord willed, He did in heaven, and on the earth, In the sea, and in all deeps.

Praise the Lord from the earth, Ye serpents, and all deeps.

And the clouds dropped water.

Before the fountains of water came forth:

Who says to the deep, Thou shalt be dried up, and I will dry up the rivers.

Art thou not it that dried the sea, the water, even the abundance of the deep; that made the depths of the sea a way of passage for the delivered and redeemed?

He led them through the deep, as a horse through the wilderness, and they fainted not,

For thus saith the Lord God; When I shall make the city desolate, as the cities that shall not be inhabited, when I have brought the deep up upon thee,

The water nourished him, the depth made him grow tall; she led her rivers round about his plants, and she sent forth her streams to all the trees of the field.

Thus saith the Lord God; In the day wherein he went down to Hades, the deep mourned for him: and I stayed her floods, and restrained her abundance of water: and Lebanon saddened for him, all the trees of the field fainted for him.

Blessed art thou on the glorious throne of thy kingdom: And to be praised and glorified above all forever.

Thus has the Lord shown me; and, behold, the Lord called for judgment by fire, and it devoured the great deep, and devoured the Lord’s portion.

Water was poured around me to the soul: The lowest deep compassed me, My head went down

The nations shall see thee and be in pain, As thou dost divide the moving waters: The deep uttered her voice, And raised her form on high.

And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep.

Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit.

And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

But she drowned their enemies, And cast them up out of the bottom of the deep.

And the deep, and wisdom?

Behold, the heaven, and the heaven of heavens, The deep, and the earth, and all that therein is, Shall be moved when he shall visit.

I alone compassed the circuit of heaven, And walked in the bottom of the deep.

For her thoughts are more than the sea, And her counsels profounder than the great deep.

He seeketh out the deep, and the heart, And considereth their crafty devices: For the Lord knoweth all that can be known, And he beholdeth the signs of the world,

By his counsel he appeaseth the deep, And planteth islands therein.

whence all the waters of the deep flow. I saw the mouths of all the rivers of the earth and the mouth of the deep.
