Question about the evil eye and the good eye. Did the early Christians say anything about having a good eye, meaning being a generous person, and vice versa? Referring to the verses like Proverbs 23:6 and 28:22. Have you come across anything about the good eye meaning being a generous person? I don't know that I directly do. Now they talk a lot about giving to the poor. So there might be one in there, but like I say, on that, they're just understanding him to say you have an eye that is good.
And evil is not the best translation. It should say bad or defective or something like that. I mean, in another setting, evil can be the right way to translate the Greek there. But he's talking about our physical eye. And so he's not talking about the evil eye like you hear in certain things. He's talking about an eye that is defective that doesn't see. Okay. So they see it more about someone that's willing to hear and listen or see versus necessarily a specific attribute of obedience. Yes. Yeah. Okay.
