Mike Humphrey, do the Sabbath year and Jubilee year still hold any spiritual lessons or life applications for today's Christians? Okay, I owe an apology, Mike, because I don't know what the early Christians taught on that. I looked today to see if I could find anything. I don't remember reading anything about that other than general references that the Jubilee would have pointed to the gospel age when we are all set free.
But as far as any life applications from either the Jubilee or the Sabbath year, I am not aware of any. I'm sure the early Christians would have said that they symbolize things, like I say, the Gospel Age, et cetera. But as far as us applying those principles, other than in a general way, I don't think they taught anything on that. Nothing comes to my recollection at all, and I couldn't find anything trying to find it through a word search and that kind of thing.
As far as the Jubilee, it certainly should teach us, however, to be merciful and forgiving. It was a time when Jewish slaves were set free and debts were forgiven. And I think that's a principle that we should always apply in our life, being merciful and forgiving. And Jesus said, you know, when you loan out money to do so without expecting it back in return. So that's maybe the ultimate application of the Jubilee principle. Amen.
