Question 6
The speaker explains “prevented” (Romans 1:13) could be God’s timing, God sending other apostles (like Peter), or Satan hindering “only if God permits it”; how does this view of providence reshape the way you interpret delays and disappointments in your own obedience?
Another way to ask: If delays might be God’s timing, another worker’s role, or even Satan only when God allows it, how should that change the way you read setbacks in your own efforts to obey God?

Direct Answer
The transcript frames delays as spiritually meaningful rather than random: being “prevented” may be God’s timing, God’s broader strategy with other workers, or permitted satanic hindrance—so disappointment can be received as part of tested obedience under God’s control.
- Paul says he “often intended to come… but… was prevented until now,” and the speaker admits, “We don’t know. He doesn’t say what prevented him.”
- Possibility 1: God prevented him—apostles “went where God wanted,” and Acts shows “the Holy Spirit said no.”
- The speaker suggests reasons for God’s “no”: “it wasn’t quite the time,” or “there’s someplace God wanted to send Paul before there.”
- Another divine-strategy possibility: God may send another apostle: “I’m sending Peter there. I don’t want you, Paul, to go.”
- Possibility 2: Satan hindered, but limited: “Satan… throws roadblocks… only if God permits it… to serve his test for us.”
- He connects this to Paul’s “thorn… messenger of Satan,” which God chose not to remove: “My grace is sufficient.”
