Lessons

I'm sorry, I missed one part. Before that, because I have a problem with addiction, I wanted to be free from alcohol, from gambling in particular. So I went to rehab. It was my own initiative. So I went there for, I think, six or eight weeks. It was a very, very, very difficult time. My whole body was shaking because of lack of alcohol, and I wanted to stop smoking also. And it was a very, very hard time. So that, plus that, I began to be in the signs of depression.

So I went to the doctor in that rehab and told him about the situation, about my experiences. So I have got some antidepressant that time also. So finally, when I was free from alcohol after six or eight weeks, I thought, "Okay, I want to go to the supermarket again to buy one bottle of alcohol." So I did that again. I thought, "It doesn't work. It just doesn't work." So you know what? I'm going to drink and to smoke, and we'll see where it will end up.

I remember I asked my father, "I need some dollars because I must pay my—yeah, I had stopped to pay." So I was actually lying because I needed money to gamble.

So I planned my flight to my father. And at that time, there was again a conference. So I went with a friend of mine to the conference, and I heard the same things as nine years ago. And I was deeply touched again.

So I began to be very angry. So I began to cry. I didn't understand anything, what should I do? And it was lack of alcohol, so I was not allowed to drink. So I went back. I stopped with the conference. It was, I think, five days.

So I stopped there after two days. I went back to my home. I started to drink again. And I called my father, "I'm coming this week because I need some money to pay back." It was, of course, a lie. So at that time, something happened. I remember I took a shower, I took a cup of coffee, and I sat like this, and as if the Lord was speaking to my heart that time, "Do you want my way or that way?" I remember these words. It's not a physical voice like this, but it was just a very clear voice inside me, maybe because I needed it.

So I prayed maybe two sentences, three sentences, "Please, Lord, help me. I want to stop." And I suddenly knew that moment, "I don't need to gamble anymore." And yeah, from that time, I knew I have a new life from now on. Yeah.

So yeah, I can't describe this experience or feeling. It's not necessary for everybody, but I knew there's something new. I accepted Christ somehow. So yeah, so I stopped there, this terrible habit. Yeah. So that was the starting point and turning point.
