Bible Verses About The Veil And Christian Worship

Early Christian writers linked the veil to both worship and worship order. Origen, Clement, and Tertullian read the veil in a spiritual way, especially in connection with Moses, the law, and access to God; at the same time, Tertullian, the Apostolic Constitutions, and Clement also use veil language for women covering their heads.

The strongest direct worship evidence says Christians should worship God in spirit and truth, with the heart unveiled before the Lord, while the liturgies show a real veil in temple-style worship settings. The evidence is broad across the 2nd and 3rd centuries, but it is mixed because some texts speak about symbolic meaning and others about dress and church order.
