Bible Verses About The Titles Of Christ

Early Christian writings treat Christ’s titles as real names of his role and work, not as empty labels. Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Tertullian, Novatian, Origen, and others call Jesus Christ Lord, Word, King, Priest, God, and Saviour, and they link those titles to Scripture like John 1:1, John 1:14, Romans 9:5, and John 20:28. The widest agreement is that Christ is more than a human teacher: he is the Word made flesh, the Lord of all, and the one who bears a name above others.

The evidence is especially strong for Christ as Word, Lord, and God; it is a little more mixed on how every title should be explained, since some writers stress that certain titles describe his deeds or office. A few cards are only background or weak name-matching, but the core teaching is broad and early.
