Bible Verses About The Son Of God

Early Christian writings teach that Jesus is the Son of God, distinct from the Father, and that he reveals the Father to people. Writers like Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, Tertullian, Hippolytus, and Origen repeat this across the second and third centuries, often tying it to Matthew 11:27, Luke 10:22, John 1:18, and John 1:1. Many of these same authors also say the Son existed before creation, was with God, and was the Word through whom all things were made.

The main picture is broad and consistent, though some texts use different language for the Son’s birth, and a few late or less clear cards are only indirect support.
