Bible Verses About The Book Of Revelation And The Apocalypse

Early Christian writers treated Revelation as a real apostolic book used for teaching, warning, and hope. Irenaeus, Clement of Alexandria, Origen, Cyprian, Hippolytus, Victorinus, Caius, and Dionysius of Alexandria all cite it, and some name John as the writer. They also read it as a book about the last times, the beast, the judgment, the martyrs, the New Jerusalem, and the call to keep its words.

The evidence is broad and strong for acceptance and use, but it is mixed on authorship only because Dionysius reports that some earlier Christians rejected the book or questioned whether John wrote it. There is also a small amount of indirect, typological use, especially where writers connect Revelation images with Daniel, Isaiah, and other Bible passages.
