Bible Verses About Saturday Sabbath

Early Christian writings do not point to a single, simple Saturday-Sabbath rule. Writers like Ignatius, Justin Martyr, Tertullian, Irenaeus, Origen, and the Apostolic Constitutions still speak of the seventh day as Sabbath, but many of them treat it as a day for rest, prayer, fasting, or spiritual meaning rather than a strict Jewish-style command. Several also shift attention to the Lord’s Day, especially for resurrection joy and Christian gatherings.

The evidence is broad for Sabbath language and Sabbath symbolism, but mixed on whether Christians were expected to keep Saturday as an ongoing binding practice.
